Gabby Prats

Chef Jose Gabriel E. Prats is a career-oriented Spanish-Filipino chef who hails from a family of chefs and food service professionals. With roots from Barcelona, Spain, Chef Prats started his early career years as a self-taught chef, who eventually went on to formalize his craft by attending, and successfully completing several notable culinary training programs including one from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute in Australia.

Chef Prats is also professionally accredited and affiliated by some of the world's most prestigious culinary organizations including the World Association of Chef Societies (Beacon, NY USA), The International Association of Culinary Professionals (Louisvile, USA) An International Faculty Membership at the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation (Washington, DC USA), and a licensed SERVSAFE practitioner and Instructor. He is proud of being one of only 32 ASEAN Master Trainers and Assessors in the Philippines, and one of only 6 in his skill trade of Culinary Arts.

This young and talented chef is also currently a Board Director of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines, Founding Chairman and 1ST President of the Alliance of TVET School Associations (NCR), Executive Vice President of the European based organization L'Ordre International des Disciples d'Auguste Escoffier, and National Executive Director of the Technical Vocational Schools Association of the Philippines. He was also recently accepted in the high status, renowned European based gastronomic organization La Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs with the rank Maitre Rotisseur (Master Chef). He also serves as a Lieutenant (Senior Grade) of the 116th Squadron of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. A few of his most recent achievements was passing the stringent requirements of the esteemed London based World Master Chefs Society as a Certified Master Chef, a revered appointment as Fellow of the Royal Institute of Master Chefs Singapore, and being conferred the prestigious award for Outstanding Filipino Achiever by the 2018 Golden Globe Annual Awards.

Currently, Chef Prats is the Culinary Training Director of United Marine Training Center (UMTC). An ISO certified, and 1 of only 2 (1ST in Asia and 2nd in the World) Center for Excellence in Maritime Training Institute, owned and operated by globally renowned Marlow Navigation Ltd. With headquarters in Limassol, Cyprus, Marlow Navigation is one of the world's top ship and crew management companies with a network spanning more than 10 countries, with approximately 800 shore-based staff and over 14,000 crew onboard vessels. Here his task is to maintain the skill competence of over 2000 seafaring Cooks and Chef's, constantly developing, upgrading and delivering excellence in culinary education. Here he also serves as the Executive Chef for the company's 2 restaurant outlets that caters to over 1200 guests a day.
